Biography

We are The Butchers – heavy rock / stoner rock with Eastern European raw energy

The Butchers is a heavy rock / stoner rock formation from in Šamorín, Slovakia, where the spirit of blues met the abrasive pulse of independent creation. Founded in 2012 by Hushegyi twin brothers, the band began as a cover act — but it didn’t take long for the original fire to catch. Their early sound carved its path with the release of their first album, Train to Freedom, in 2013 — an unapologetic declaration of artistic identity.

Driven by restless energy and a devotion to the stage, The Butchers released their self-titled album in 2015 and spent the next five years lighting up venues across Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, and beyond — building a reputation on raw distortion and rhythm.

Their 2020 EP WOUNDS marked a darker, heavier turn — channeling intensity into sound. A year later, HOPE arrived as its melodic counterpart, grounding the listener with echoes of classic rock storytelling.

In 2023, transformation came. A renewed lineup ignited a new chapter. In the studio, eight new tracks were born — each one pulsing with the weight of stoner rock, the grit of heavy riffs, and a wild Eastern European undercurrent that refuses to be tamed.

The Butchers aren’t just a band. They’re a sonic force — blending past and present into something raw, loud, and unforgettably alive.

Press coverage

“It´s No Shame, lays the foundations on really spot on metrics and riffs, managing to dose a mass of sounds that give concreteness and a sound mature enough to get noticed and appreciated.”

"This is their new single, called Never Give Up. Both video and song are quality, with inspired riffs, and solid drumming and a simple but effective arrangement. I like the contrast between the verses, very melodic and the aggressive chorus (super catchy vocals). This is a very cool song, with a superb solo section as well and overall amazingly performed by the band."

"The Butchers are among the few not blinded by the allure of recent trends and the promise of fancy technology. “It’s not my fault” is a song built on pure, unrelenting power. It’s the kind that no math genius or AI will be able to convert into a simple equation."

"Az album nem kifejezetten „bulizós”, inkább „belemélyedős” zenét kínál, a tagok sokat fejlődtek hangszeres tudás és dalszerzés szintjén is. Aki játszik valamilyen hangszeren, egyből érzékeli, és nevén is tudja nevezni a harmóniabeli, hangszerelési, ritmikai újdonságokat."
